Security Company Verification & Certification Process

  • Physical business address (no P.O. boxes)
  • Years in operation
  • Description of services offered
  • Areas of operation and jurisdictions

Applicant Agreement:

Companies must agree to SRU’s Code of Conduct, Ethics Policy, and ongoing compliance requirements.



2. Licensing & Regulatory Verification


SRU independently verifies:


  • All required state and local security licenses
  • License status (active, unrestricted, and in good standing)
  • Qualifying manager or responsible party licenses
  • Regulatory compliance with state oversight agencies


 Companies operating without proper licensing are immediately disqualified.



3. Insurance & Bond Verification


SRU confirms and documents:


  • General liability insurance
  • Professional liability (if applicable)
  • Workers’ compensation coverage
  • Bonding (as required by jurisdiction or contract type)
  • Policy limits, expiration dates, and carriers


Insurance certificates must be issued directly by the carrier or broker to SRU.



4. Background & Integrity Review


SRU conducts a professional integrity review of the company and its principals, including:

Criminal background screening (where legally permissible)


  • Civil litigation and regulatory action review
  • Business complaint and enforcement history
  • Verification of prior contract performance (if available)


This step ensures ethical business practices and risk mitigation.

SRU evaluates whether the company can realistically deliver services it claims to offer, including:

Certification Term:
